Eat food. Not too much. Mostly
plants.
“Eat Food. Not
too much. Mostly Plants.” This has become a famous mantra expressing the
feeling of many who are rejecting the contemporary food culture as proliferated
by nutrition science and the industrialization of food over the past
century. Michael pollen want to tell us
by this statement, “We human should eat in order to be maximum healthy.” He
simply means that eat natural foods. Nothing else is better than natural food.
It won’t make you fat and it’s really healthy.
“Healthy is always wealthy for your body”. More the healthy, less the diseases come to
you and less it makes you fat. So, you don’t have to spend lots of money after
doctor treatments or making yourself thinner or skinner. If you want to be a healthy
than you should control ourself in eating and better eats healthy food. You should
know what to eat and what not to? And also you should know what is good and
healthier for you and what not? Michel Pollen describes well this mantra on his
book, “In Defence of Food”. Pollen said
that we are rejecting good and healthier food. He describes this using
different subtitle now day dietary foods, science describing food, cultural
food, fake foods and reason of going fatter.
In Defence of
food, Michel Pollen said that modern North American dietary foods are not
really dieting food. It makes you fatter. He said that “Now days all
nutritionals advice we’ve received over the last half century has actually made
us less healthy and considerably fatter.” Using people’s advice and eating dietary
food in modern days makes you fatter than you really were because that food are
not really dietary, they make you fool saying it’s dietary. Every year, nutritionist found something new
for diet and later that food consider as fat by other nutritionist; that’s what
Michael pollen said in his book. It’s really true though, now days it’s less
food in market that make you healthier. Most of the food make you fat and using
someone else advice is bad for your body. Michael Pollen said, “In fall of
2006, two prestigious studies on omega-3 fats published at the same time came
to strikingly different conclusions.” Now who to believe? Nutritionist job is to
find something that makes us healthier. They mostly focus on nutrition. Taking
and following advices of nationalist and make yourself unhealthy better to eat
healthy food. The foods what animals eat are healthiest for them. In dieting,
you better eat vegetable or called natural foods that omnivores eat. Those foods are best for dieting. You will
not go fatter by that. Professionalise advices not make us healthier;
therefore, eat natural food and make yourself healthy.
Michel Pollen
stated that believing scientist now days also a joke; they also want to make a
profit; therefore making additive products; which are totally unhealthy. Michel
stated that “golden age of the food science is gone”. Now sciences add more
different type of additives into one food products and make it variety of food
products. “Low fat, no cholesterol and high fibre labeled on the food products”
they sell this types of products and make people fool using it. People buy this product so they won’t turn
fat, but this product make them fat because this products are additive.
Therefore, Michel pollen say, “not to believe on scientists and mainly speak on
authority and common sense.” Science makes us fool now days; therefore, better
not to believe on them and make our self-more fat. Michael also argued on
culture food a lot. His absolutely right on his point of view. He say, “My own mother
grew up in the 1930s and 1940s eating a lots of traditional Jewish- American
fare, typical of families who recently emigrated from Russia or Eastern Europe;
stuffed cabbage, organ meats, cheese blintzes, kreplach, knishes stuffed with
potato or chicken liver, and vegetable that often were cooked in rendered
chicken or duck fat. I never ate any of this stuff as a kid, except when I visited
my grandmother.” So, you can see how
much culture food out there, his mother ate and at Michael age it disappeared.
We are rejecting culture foods; which our grand – grand – grandparents ate and
grown up. Notice how healthy, your grandparents look; they eat culture food and
still won’t turn unhealthy. Researchers and other people suggest that culture
foods make us fatter because it has lots of fat inside, but in reality it won’t.
Culture Foods are healthier; they put vegetables and lots of healthier stuff
inside and make it really tasty and yummy. Now days, people don’t like cultural
foods; people are interested in junk foods more. Michael also said, “Most of us
no longer eat what our mother as a children and what our mother feed us” And
that’s right. My mother grown up eating healthier food, but now she turned so Canadian.
She doesn’t like to make a food, what she ate in childhood because she was
tired of eating that food. She loves this fatty food more. I love my cultural
food, but its kind an unhealthy. So, my friend suggests not eating that kind a
food. If you eat than you will turn fat. My grandfather and grandmother at back
home they ate cultural food everyday still they don’t turn fat. They are still
healthy at the age of 85 and still don’t have any kind of diseases like BP,
Diabetes, cancer, etc. They maintained their body very well. Therefore, we
should eat culture food as our grandparents do; they won’t make you fat.
In modern
days, you don’t have real grown vegetables. People make vegetables by adding
chemicals and stuff. We don’t eat real vegetables at all. We don’t even
recognize how real vegetables / fruits test like. Now days, people add food
color and sweeteners in vegetable/ fruits to make them taste like real, but
they are not real. Michael Pollen said, “Most people faking it they add
sweeteners in food we forgot how really food taste”. So, the food we eat now days are fake. When I
was at back home, I use to eat fresh vegetable/ fruits directly came from farm;
which taste really sweet and different than I eat food in now days. Michael
Pollen said, “Today there are thousands of other addible foods like substances
in the market”. These foods are totally a joke. They are not real; it’s
chemistry after each food now. Therefore, don’t trust on addible foods. Try to
get food which is pure not addible.
When people
get fat, they blame on everyone for that. If you really concerned about your
health you should be careful, what you eat daily. Michael said. “If you’re
concerned about your health, you should probably avoid products that health
claim. “And that is true if you want to be healthy, you have to maintain your
body and for that you should eat healthy and food that make you less fat. The main problem is, people like junk food
more they don’t like to eat healthy food. Other side, people who are thinking
that, they are eating healthy food and still getting fat, the only reason after
it is the food they are eating is not really healthy food. So, what to eat? To
be a healthy. Michael said that eat what
animals eat, what omnivores eat. They are eating healthier food than what we
eat. Eat vegetables and fruits and as
above arguments said that are now chemicals made not realistic food. Still
they’re healthier than what you eat in daily basis. Therefore, take care what
you eat.
In
conclusion, Dietary foods, science research on food, culture food, fake food
and reason of getting fat are all connected. We don’t know, what we are eating
now days and don’t even know how food we are eating made? Surrounding us there are all unhealthier
food; which makes people easily fat and that’s the main reason, most people
surrounding us are fat. That all point us to Michael’s message, “Eat food. Not
too much. Mostly plants.” Michel said, “Eating little
meat not going to affect your body.” So, you can eat some foods that are not
healthier, but mostly eat healthier food and more plant. Plants are natural
foods; which give your body natural strangeness and you won’t turn fat by that.
Therefore, “Eat Food. Not Too Much. Mostly Plants".
